ROOM
TO MOVE

A love for dance + a passion for recovery.

Patrick Kilbane

Patrick has developed a unique movement approach that offers the healing power of dance to people of all backgrounds and abilities. He helps people in recovery deepen their connection to their minds and bodies through an expressive, physical, and FUN embodiment practice called Room To Move

Patrick created Room To Move as a way to be of service to the people of his community during his time at a spiritual retreat in Portland, OR. The practice is an amalgamation of all his years in the worlds of ballet, contemporary dance, yoga, fitness, and recovery. Room To Move helps individuals and groups create a safe space for transcendence, healing, and play.

Testimonials:

“Patrick's Room To Move is an experience I'll always cherish for the rest of my life. As an addict/alcoholic this class let me express myself in ways I never even knew existed! I now have a taste of the immense passion that goes into dance and movement- how beautiful and intense it can be and how dance plays a vital role in the flow of life and society. If this class wasn't a part of my recovery, I personally feel I wouldn't have made as much progress as I did at the start of my sobriety. I was this shy, closed-off man who chose to not be a part of the group. With the help of Patrick's class he got me out of my head and expressing myself through movement and dance. It was a spiritual experience. He knows how to lead a group of people and get them grooving and expressing themselves through dance. It's amazing to watch him work with people who have no experience with dance and get them into it and actually enjoying it. I wish all people could experience what Patrick has to offer.”

“When I first got to treatment I felt uncomfortable in my own skin… like I wanted to build my walls back up. Room to Move with Patrick really helped me learn how to be comfortable in my own skin. This class was my favorite part of every week. It helped me start making eye contact again and allowed me to be seen for exactly who I was. I felt safe. I was allowed to be silly and open and not care how others see me. This class helped me in my sobriety in many ways, and it impacted me tremendously. I would go in grumpy some mornings, and when the class was done, I felt happy- like I could accomplish anything.

I’ll be forever grateful for Room to Move and for Patrick’s amazing leadership skills. His understanding of how everyone was feeling helped us all work through those moods and emotions!”

“At some point during the first moments of Room to Move I find myself letting go. I let go of performing. I let go of judging myself and others. There is only the music and Patrick’s voice encouraging and supporting us to be creative with our movements. This is a magic place to be. 100% present. 100% alive. It sets the tone for the rest of my day. I’m so very grateful for Patrick’s kind energy, his intuitive guidance, and his love and care for his students.”
